The Nokia E5 is a mid-range smartphone sporting a full QWERTY keyboard with a 2.4-inch display at 320 x 240 pixels and 256K color. The E5 borrows quite a lot from the much acclaimed and higher priced E72 and almost manages to match its impressive business feature-set. The Nokia E5 runs Symbian OS v. 9.3 and is powered by an ARM 11 600 MHz processor and supports faster multitasking.
The E5 sports a 5 megapixel camera with LED Flash and captures images at 2592 x 1944 pixel resolution.The mobile can also record DVD quality video at 15 fps. The impressive social network integration on the Nokia E5 allows you to upload snaps and videos in a matter of minutes.
Design
The Nokia E5 features a typical QWERTY candy-bar chassis that measures 115 x 58.9 x 12.8 mm and weighs 126 g. The E5 sports a well-spaced, tactile keyboard with fair amount of travel and feedback. Nokia has added a neat set of shortcuts for the E5 including one for turning Bluetooth on and off, which will please those who like to have an earpiece in for phone calls. Another useful shortcut is the space bar, press and hold it to turn the camera flash on or off.
Battery and Storage
The Nokia E5 comes with 256 MB of onboard memory and recognizes upto 32 GB microSD cards. The mobile is powered by a 1200 mAh Li-Ion battery that is rated for 13 hrs of talk time and 635 hrs of standby time.
Connectivity and Features
The E5 is built for high-speed web connectivity and comes with 3G(HSDPA) and Wi-Fi connectivity. The mobile works seamlessly with your computer to sync your documents, photos and calendar. The Nokia E5 supports Mail for Exchange and IBM Lotus Notes Traveler for faster Push Mail notifications. You can also view/edit Documents on the go with the Quickoffice application. The mobilesupports A-GPS and is preloaded with Ovi Maps, Nokia's free navigation solution which offers free life-time Walk and Drive Navigation support.
The mobile's browser is based on the same WebKit rendering engine as Google's Android Browser and delivers auser-friendly web navigation experience. The E5 has a single home screen which can be configured with different sets of apps, shortcuts and widgets. The device supports a range of personalization options, you can configure the homescreen to provide access to the Wi-Fi sniffer and email notifications when you're working, and make it show Facebook and Twitter updates when you are away from office.
